LGBT Great Names Jackie Wagner 2024 Gamechanger
The third LGBT Great recognition for the American Century vice president and senior portfolio manager is the 12th for American Century employees in total
American Century Investments Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager Jackie Wagner has earned recognition as a 2024 Gamechanger from LGBT Great, an LGBTQ+ membership community for the financial services industry. The recognition is part of the group's Project 1000  program that seeks to recognize LGBTQ+ talent who use their role to influence their companies' policies and cultures and to empower their communities. Wagner was also named a Top 100 Gamechanger in 2022 and is a Project 1000 Role Model.
Wagner co-founded and has served as the chair of American Century's Pride business resource group (BRG) since 2020. Pride represents members of the LGBTQ+ community and their colleagues, family members and friends and fosters an inclusive environment to ensure LGBTQ+ employees feel safe, welcome and valued in the workplace.
"I got involved in American Century's Pride BRG because I wanted to make an impact on developing our culture to be more inclusive. We've seen a tremendous amount of progress since 2020 and a lot of that is due to the Pride BRG," said Wagner. "Pride is more visible at American Century, with banners and the Pride colors on our building during Pride month, and employees have generously supported our partnerships with organizations that specifically promote the LGBTQ+ community."
Additionally, American Century has provided its comprehensive benefits package and assistance to LGBTQ+ employees and their dependents since 1999. Its medical, dental, vision and employee assistance program benefits are available to same-sex spouses and domestic partnerships. Benefits include gender-affirming care for those 18 years and older, family formation assistance including infertility and cryopreservation benefits when medically necessary and adoption and surrogacy benefits.
"Jackie is a talented part of our team, and she has been a powerful advocate helping to make American Century a more inclusive and stronger employer. We are proud of Jackie and our work on inclusive benefits, policies and culture," said American Century Chief Investment Officer Victor Zhang.
Wagner joined American Century in 2005 as a financial analyst and over a series of promotions has become the co-manager of the firm's small cap growth strategy. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She earned top spots in Citywire's list of most consistently outperforming female fund managers in 2023 and 2024, and won the 2023 James E. Stowers award, American Century's annual employee recognition award.
LGBT Great has also recognized Jonathan Thomas and Victor Zhang as Top 100 Executives in 2021, Rich Weiss as a Top 50 Executive in 2023 and Kristin Overman as a Project 1000 Role Model in 2023.
